Hythe Cycling Club Feature Ride Challenge to Birling Gap (Eastbourne)
-
Distance :126 miles
-
Climbing: Approx 5,600ft
-
Duration: All day event
The ride will be leaving earlier than the normal Sunday club ride and departing promptly at 8.00am from the Sailing club. There will be a second meeting point at the junction of Stone Cross Road / Firth Road junction that we all pass many times for riders living nearer the Ashford area, pick up there is at 8.40am (102miles). Inland to Birling Gap returning via Eastbourne and the coast, with route files available closer to the time to club members that are interested in the ride. This is a social ride at a slow Intermediate pace and determined by the the group, adhering to a no drop policy, with an option at Polegate to cut out the hilly 8 mile 1,000ft section & regrouping at Eastbourne pier, if notifying the ride captain prior. Refreshment stops as the group dictates, but planned for 2 or 3 Battle (40), Birling Gap (65), 3rd if required 😊. This will be an all day event due to distance and we would expect to be returning back at the Sailing club around 17.30 – 18.00. Anyone interested please let Chris Skelton know on the event page here on Facebook.
